The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Will pray for death, 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
