The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 Will pray for death, 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
