The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
