O YOU who have attained to faith! Do not gorge yourselves on usury, doubling and re-doubling it - but remain conscious of God, so that you might attain to a happy state; 130 And beware of the Fire gotten ready for the infidels. 131 Obey God and the Messenger so that you may receive mercy. 132 ۞ And vie with one another to attain to your Sustainer's forgiveness and to a paradise as vast as the heavens and the earth, which has been readied for the God-conscious 133 who spend their property for the cause of God in prosperity as well as in adversity and who also harness their anger and forgive the people. God loves the righteous ones. 134 And those who, when they do an evil thing or wrong themselves, remember Allah and implore forgiveness for their sins - Who forgiveth sins save Allah only? - and will not knowingly repeat (the wrong) they did. 135 their recompense is forgiveness from their Lord, and Gardens with rivers flowing through them, where they will abide forever. How excellent will be the reward of those who do good works. 136 [MANY] WAYS of life have passed away before your time. Go, then, about the earth and behold what happened in the end to those who gave the lie to the truth: 137 This is a declaration for mankind, a guidance and an admonition unto those who ward off (evil) 138 Faint not nor grieve, for ye will overcome them if ye are (indeed) believers. 139 If you have been struck by some misfortune, so they (the disbelievers) too have been struck earlier with the same misfortune; these are the days in which We have allotted turns to people; and so that Allah may make known the believers and may bestow martyrdom to some of you; and Allah does not befriend the unjust. 140 And that He may purge those who believe and deprive the unbelievers of blessings. 141 Do you think that you could enter paradise unless God takes cognizance of your having striven hard [in His cause,] and takes cognizance of your having been patient in adversity? 142 You were longing for death, before you met it. Now you have seen it with your own eyes. 143
