The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the mansions of the stars, 1 And the promised day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 (Self-)destroyed were the owners of the ditch 4 the fire abounding in fuel, 5 Lo! [With glee do] they contemplate that [fire,] 6 And they were witnesses of what they did with the believers. 7 whom they hate for no other reason than that they believe in God, the Almighty, the One to whom all praise is due, 8 to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. God is witness over all things. 9 Lo! they who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not, theirs verily will be the doom of hell, and theirs the doom of burning. 10 Surely (as for) those who believe and do good, they shall have gardens beneath which rivers flow, that is the great achievement. 11 The grip of your Lord is indeed severe, 12 It is He who creates all things and causes them to return. 13 And He alone is truly-forgiving, all-embracing in His love, 14 Lord of the Throne of Glory, 15 Performer of what He desires. 16 Has the story of the hordes 17 Of Pharaoh and Thamud come to you? 18 But those who disbelieve are engaged in denial. 19 However, God encompassed their activities. 20 In fact it (what they deny) is the Noble Qur’an. 21 In a guarded tablet. 22
