The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 The piercing star! 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 Therefore give them some respite give them some time. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
