The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 it is no merriment. 14 As for them, they are but plotting a scheme, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
