The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what can make you know what is the night comer? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 Created from a gushing fluid. 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 A day when the secrets will be examined. 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
