The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 Verily, it is a discourse distinguishing. 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
