The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 and what could make you know what it is that comes in the night? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He was created of spurting water 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 it is not a jest. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
