No! By the moon 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 about the guilty ones: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 we fed not the needy, 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56
