The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
