The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 Over every soul there is a watcher. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 The day all secrets are examined 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Therefore give them some respite give them some time. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
