The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 And it is no joke. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17

Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
