The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 I swear by the raingiving heavens, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 And it is no joke. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: The Comet (Al-Taareq). Sent down in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
