The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is! 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 That issued from between the loins and ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the heaven which giveth the returning rain, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 Therefore give them some respite give them some time. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
