The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 God has certainly power to bring him back. 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
