Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
