Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In an elevated garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions lined up 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
