Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
