Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a high Garden. 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 and raised couches, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
