Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
