Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 and couches raised high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
