Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And cups put in place 14 and arranged cushions 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
