Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
