Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
