Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
