Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And cups set at hand. 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
