Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
