Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
