Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
