Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And chosen goblets. 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
