Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you received the news of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
