Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
