Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a Garden on high, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
