Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
