Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 and couches raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
