Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 and prepared goblets, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
