Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By oath of the (particular) dawn. 1 by the Ten (secret) Nights, 2 By the even and odd (contrasted); 3 And the night when it departs. 4 Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth? 5 Did you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) not see (thought) how your Lord dealt with 'Ad (people)? 6 With many-columned Iram, 7 whose like has never been created in any other land. 8 And (with) Samood, who hewed out the rocks in the valley, 9 (Also consider the people of) the Pharaoh who victimized people by placing them on the stake, 10 who transgressed in the countries of the world 11 and exceeded in corruption therein. 12 Thus, your Lord afflicted them with torment; 13 Indeed, your Lord is in observation. 14 As for man, whenever his Lord trieth him by honouring him, and is gracious unto him, he saith: My Lord honoureth me. 15 But when He tries him by restraining his means, he says: "My Lord despises me." 16 No. In fact you are not generous to the orphans, 17 Nor urge upon each other the feeding of the poor, 18 and you devour the inheritance greedily, 19 and you love wealth with boundless love! 20 No indeed! When the earth is crushed and ground to dust, 21 And thy Lord cometh, and His angels, rank upon rank, 22 and when Hell is brought near that Day. On that Day will man understand, but of what avail will that understanding be? 23 He will say: would that I had sent before for this life of mine! 24 Then on that Day Allah will chastise as none other can chastise; 25 and none can bind with bonds like His! 26 [But to the righteous, God will say], "O soul at peace, 27 Return to your Lord well-pleased (with your blissful destination), well-pleasing (to your Lord). 28 And enter among My [righteous] servants 29 enter My Paradise! 30
