The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by this city (Makkah); 1 And thou art an indweller of this city - 2 and [I call to witness] parent and offspring: 3 We have certainly created man into hardship. 4 Does he, then, think that no one has power over him? 5 He says, "I have spent enormous wealth." 6 Does he think that none has observed him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes 8 and a tongue and two lips? 9 And have shown him the two ways? 10 Yet he has not assaulted the steep; 11 What could let you know what the height is! 12 The freeing of a slave, 13 Or the giving of food in a day of hunger 14 The orphan near in relationship, 15 Or a needy person in misery 16 Then he became one of those who believed, and recommended one another to perseverance and patience, and (also) recommended one another to pity and compassion. 17 These are the people of the right hand. 18 and [as for] those who are bent on denying the truth of Our revelations, they are the people of the left hand, 19 On them is fire closed over. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
