Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ No, I swear by this country (Mecca), 1 in which you are now living 2 And by the giver of birth, and whom he fathered, 3 We verily have created man in an atmosphere: 4 Does he think then that no one has power over him? 5 He shall say: I have wasted much wealth. 6 Does he think that none has observed him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And did We not show him the two highroads (of good and evil)? 10 So he did not quickly enter the steep valley. 11 What could let you know what the height is! 12 (It is:) freeing the bondman; 13 or, in a day of famine, the feeding of 14 To the orphan with claims of relationship, 15 Or to the poor man lying in the dust. 16 the believers who cooperate with others in patience (steadfastness) and kindness. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left. 19 Over them shall be Fire closing round. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
