Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ No, I swear by this country (Mecca), 1 this land in which thou art free to dwell 2 And (the mystic ties of) parent and child;- 3 Verily We have created man into toil and struggle. 4 Thinketh he, that none hath power over him? 5 He boasts, "I have spent wealth abundant!" 6 Does he believe that none has seen him? 7 Have We not appointed to him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips, 9 And did We not guide him to the two elevated things? 10 But he has not attempted the ascent. 11 And what have you understood, what the valley is! 12 It is freeing the neck, 13 Or giving food in a day of hunger (famine), 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 or to a needy person in distress; 16 And to be of those who believe and exhort one another to perseverance and exhort one another to pity. 17 Their place will be on the right hand. 18 But those who deny Our revelations are the people of the left hand: 19 Over them will be fire closed in. 20
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
