Al-Shams

The Sun (Al-Shams)

15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)

In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate

CONSIDER the sun and its radiant brightness, 1 And the moon as she follows in his wake, 2 By the Day as it shows up (the Sun's) glory; 3 By the Night as it conceals it; 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 By the Soul, and the proportion and order given to it; 7 and how it is imbued with moral failings as well as with consciousness of God! 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 And he has failed who instills it [with corruption]. 10 The people of Thamud rejected (the truth) as a result of their rebelliousness 11 when their arch-criminal rose up in rage. 12 So the Noble Messenger of Allah said to them, “Stay away from the she camel of Allah, and from its turn to drink.” 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15

True are the words of God the Almighty.
