The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its brightness 1 and by the moon as it follows it, 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 And the night when it draws a veil over it, 4 by the heavens and that (Power) which established them, 5 And by the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 And given the faculty of knowing what is disruptive and what is intrinsic to it. 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 and truly lost is he who buries it [in darkness]. 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 So the Noble Messenger of Allah said to them, “Stay away from the she camel of Allah, and from its turn to drink.” 13 But they gave him the lie, and hamstrung the she-camel. So their Lord destroyed them for their crime and razed their city to the ground. 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
