The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And rejects goodness, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
