The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 and by the moon as it follows it, 2 And the day when it revealeth him, 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 by the heavens and that (Power) which established them, 5 And by oath of the earth and by oath of Him Who spread it. 6 The soul and how it was integrated 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 The Thamud tribe rejected the truth because of their arrogance, 11 when their arch-criminal rose up in rage. 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
