The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
