Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 And his substance will avail him not when he perisheth. 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
