He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 So you are after him! 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and fears (Allah), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
