The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 your striving is indeed to different ends! 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 And believes in the best [reward], 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
